Meet The Teachers! - Part 3
We’re wrapping up our “Meet the Teacher” series with our final new teacher spotlight! While she may be new to our regular teaching team, she’s definitely not new to EPIC!
You may recognize her from last season- she choreographed for our competition team, created a solo for one of our dancers, and joined us for our recital opening number and spent recital day backstage with our dancers.
Meet Miss Sammy!
Where did you dance and for how long?
I grew up dancing at Steppin Out Dance Academy for 15 years!!
What is your favorite style/what styles do you have experience in?
I have dance experience in tap, jazz, lyrical, acro, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, and pointe. My favorite styles of dance are jazz, lyrical, and acro!!
What are you most excited about bringing to your classroom?
This year I can’t wait to bring an exciting and inspiring energy to my classes where my students are looking forward to come to dance every week!
What advice would you give a dancer who is nervous or is struggling with something new?
For a student who may be nervous or struggling, I will always support them whether it’s helping ease nerves or make them feel more comfortable while also reminding them how much they are loved by their EPIC family!
What are some of your goals for dancers this season?
My main goal as a teacher is for my students to walk out of class feeling that they are personally getting better, growing, and improving either as a better dancer or a better person!!
What's your favorite type of costume?
My absolute favorite kind of costumes are the ones with all of the sparkles. The more rhinestones, the better!
What do you like about the dance community in WNY area?
I love how close and supportive the entire WNY dance community is. Everyone is always cheering each other on!
What's a song you have on repeat right now?
I may not have one song on repeat right now, but no matter what, I will always be listening to Tate McRae!
