Meet The Teachers!

We’re excited to welcome some new faces to the EPIC family this season! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing you to our new teachers through a series of “Meet the Teacher” interviews. We want our dance families to get to know the people behind the classes and what they’re looking forward to bringing to EPIC. We’re kicking off the series with Miss Mia!

Meet Miss Mia!

Where did you dance and for how long ?

I’ve been dancing for 20 years and am a proud Steppin’ Out Dance Academy alum!  

What is your favorite style/what styles do you have experience in?

My favorite styles of dance are musical theater, contemporary, and modern! 

What are you most excited about bringing to your classroom?

I am most excited to teach all my musical theater students about new and different musicals because there are just so many amazing shows to learn and talk about. 

What advice would you give a dancer who is nervous or is struggling with something new?

I would tell them that they are doing a great job and constantly reassure them and every other dancer. I also would make sure to find different ways to help them get their mind from being nervous by telling them a joke or having them try a fun activity. 

What are some of your goals for dancers this season?

One goal I hope for my dancers to achieve this season is having them not just act with their facial expressions but with their body movements as well. 

What's your favorite type of costume?

I love simple and flowy things for when it comes to costumes! 

What do you like about the dance community in WNY area?

What I love most about the dance community in WNY is how welcoming and encouraging everyone is. 

What's a song you have on repeat right now?

A song I have on repeat right now is Look at my Life my Gracie Abrams!
